It Rapidly Became Very Important For Me To Find The Best Assisted Living AZ

Posted on March 21 2013

I'll admit that I always thought of assisted living as something that was only needed by people who could hardly move or feed themselves, but now that my Dad is getting older and unable to do some of the things that he used to do, I have changed my mind, particularly when I witnessed the best assisted living in Arizona had to offer. Of course, the changes in my Dad happened very slowly, and it started with some stiffness in his joints, but it got to the point where he was having a hard time getting up and down stairs and he was not able to do all of the things that he had once enjoyed doing.

The thing that made me really realize that his health was going, was when he fell down and broke his hip, which could have led to a lot of serious health issues, but fortunately, he was able to recover without a lot of problems. Although his bones were healed, we all knew that this would probably happen again, and that the next time, he wouldn't be so lucky, which is why we started looking into the options for assisted living AZ had to offer.

I took the brunt of the task on myself, rather than force my Dad to use the Internet that he both fears and is overwhelmed by, and since my brother was busy with his own family problems. I am glad that we live in Arizona, because I was able to find a number of retirement and assisted living facilities within a very short radius around my Dad's long time home, meaning that he would be close to us and his friends. I found some likely options and made appointments to learn more about them, to which I planned to bring Dad and let him get a feel for things himself. While we drove around and looked at the different communities, there was one community that really stood out to us, and the senior care consultants that we met there were very friendly and had a lot of experience helping people like my Dad.

We had not problem deciding on this community, and we got started on the paperwork to get my father in his new home, and we also started packing up his stuff and putting the old house up for sale. Now that my dad is all settled in his new home, I am thrilled to know that he is happy and well cared for by people that we feel sure we can trust, and my father is absolutely thriving in his new home.
